Cycling The Somme

We offer a number of different tours, but after customer requests we have now included cycling the Somme battlefields. An absolutely fantastic way of seeing the WW1 battlefields, seeing beautiful terrain and following the actions along the 100s of miles of tracks and metalled roads.

There are 10 different routes depending on your fitness and skills, distances of 5 miles to 50 miles in a day, or take a more leisurely 3 day tour of 15-25 miles a day.

After a hearty breakfast you will get an equipment presentation of genuine WW1 weapons and soldiers kit. A ground and situation brief including handouts with maps, fact sheets and a safety brief.You will be issued your rations (water and packed lunch) get a kit check and risk assessment and we set off on one of the many routes discussing the history en route all the time being appraised of the facts of the battles which took place, including details of the arms and units involved such as the Infantry units, Royal Artillery, RFC and tanks used in the area you will be cycling over.

Following a soldiers actions, battalion or county of pals we will head out at a speed suitable to the group with plenty of historical breaks and vantage points for battlefield views.

Bring your own bikes and secure them in our large barn, maintenance and tool support by Dave a qualified mechanic!
